Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga was introduced in India in the 15th century.
Today many people use it for mental health and relaxation. However,
it was invented to purify the body for higher stages of meditation to
gain access to higher states of mind.
In the phrase "Hatha yoga" the word Hatha means forceful.
It refers to the strength of the practice required to purify the body.
The word Hatha comes from two words in Hindi which means sun and moon.
Active energy must be forcefully paired with receptive energy during
practice.
Hatha yoga can be practiced in yoga studios. There are also classes
in gymnasiums and health clubs. Hatha yoga lessons can also be found
on DVD.
