Power Yoga

For yoga practitioners searching for a yoga class that will give them increased flexibility and a good workout, a power yoga class is the perfect solution. Power yoga classes usually have the heat cranked up to produce a sweat. They also involve intense physical movement.

During a power yoga class the yoga practitioner will have very little time to rest. Movements are combined to seamlessly flow into each other. Sun salutations are often repeated at the instructor' s command.

Some nontraditional yoga movements can be incorporated into a power yoga class. Sometimes there are push-ups and variations on abdominal strength exercises. A first-time visitor to a power yoga class should always go at his own pace. It takes strength and endurance to complete such an intense class, and no one should push themselves beyond reasonable limits. Be sure to consult with a doctor to make sure that a power yoga class is appropriate.
